Install the Breakthrough Plugin and MCP Connector
You've made AI your sales assistant, and now you're its context manager: pasting in calls, notes and positioning by hand. Breakthrough's plugin and MCP connector feed it just the parts of your living playbook each request needs, instead of your whole call history.
Set up in three steps
Get a Breakthrough account
The plugin connects to your team's Breakthrough account. Sign up free, then connect your call recorder so your playbook starts building from your calls.
Install the Breakthrough plugin
Add our GitHub marketplace, https://github.com/breakthroughsales/plugin, in the AI tool you use. The plugin includes the MCP connector.
Note: You need to be an admin to add a new plugin or connector.
Claude
Same steps on desktop and web. Add it on one and it's on both.
- Go to Customize → Plugins, click Add (top right) and choose Add marketplace.
- Choose Add from a repository.
- In URL, enter this URL and click Sync:
https://github.com/breakthroughsales/plugin - Breakthrough installs on its own. Restart Claude Desktop for the change to take effect.
ChatGPT
Install it in the desktop app. The browser can't add plugins, but once it's installed Breakthrough shows up on chatgpt.com too.
- In the ChatGPT desktop app, go to Plugins → Add → Add a marketplace.
- In Source, enter this URL, leave the other fields empty and click Add marketplace:

- Restart the ChatGPT desktop app for the change to take effect.
Workspace admin? Add it for everyone at chatgpt.com/admin → Marketplaces → Add → Import marketplace. Enter this URL and leave Path and Branch empty:https://github.com/breakthroughsales/plugin
Cursor
Install it in the desktop app.
- Go to Customize → Plugins, click + Add and choose From GitHub Repository.
- In Repository, enter this URL:
https://github.com/breakthroughsales/plugin - Set Scope to User to add it just for you, or Team to make it available to your Cursor team.
- Click Import.
- Open Breakthrough and click Add to Cursor.
- Restart Cursor for the change to take effect.
Adding only the MCP connector? Use https://mcp.breakthroughsales.io/mcp with OAuth. If your tool asks for a client ID, enter breakthrough-mcp. You get Breakthrough's tools without the plugin's skills.
Sign in and check it's working
Ask your assistant this. The first time, a browser window opens so you can sign in to Breakthrough.
Then ask the things it couldn't answer on its own:
Auth and security
Secured with OAuth
The MCP connector authenticates with OAuth. Each person signs in with their own Breakthrough account over an encrypted connection, and your AI tool never sees a password. Disconnect any time from your assistant's connector settings.
Never sends on your behalf
It reads and updates your Breakthrough data, like adding a contact, but never posts, sends or publishes anything. Drafts stay in your conversation.
Your organization only
Access is scoped to your company's Breakthrough account, and your admin decides who gets it.
SOC 2 and GDPR compliant
Breakthrough is SOC 2 and GDPR compliant, with security controls reviewed by an independent auditor.
Troubleshooting
Admins, permissions and getting the plugin to show up.
You don't see the option to add a plugin
You need to be an admin to add a new plugin or connector. Ask your admin to add Breakthrough.
A teammate has it and you don't see it
Adding the plugin is per account, not per company, so add it yourself with the steps above. The exception is a ChatGPT workspace or Cursor team whose admin added it: ask your admin rather than adding your own copy, since two copies of the same plugin collide.
Breakthrough doesn't appear in Claude after you add the marketplace
Give it a minute. If it still isn't under Yours, open Discover and click Add on the Breakthrough card.
"Repository not found" when adding the marketplace
Check the owner. It's breakthroughsales/plugin; breakthrough/plugin does not exist.
"Failed to add marketplace" in Claude Desktop
Usually stale local state, not a problem with the repository. Claude Desktop caches the marketplace list and doesn't notice changes made on claude.ai until it restarts. Quit and reopen Claude Desktop, then check before you add: the plugin may already be there.

Breakthrough doesn't show up on chatgpt.com in the browser
The browser can't add plugins. Install Breakthrough from the ChatGPT desktop app and it shows up on chatgpt.com too.
If you can only use the browser, add Breakthrough as a connector instead: Settings → Connectors → Advanced → Developer Mode → Create, with https://mcp.breakthroughsales.io/mcp and OAuth. You get the tools without the plugin's skills. It needs a paid plan: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu.
ChatGPT shows an older version of Breakthrough
A workspace import syncs once a day, so it can trail a release by up to 24 hours. An admin can force it: chatgpt.com/admin → Marketplaces → the gear on the row → Sync now.
A workspace import stops syncing and shows "Needs attention"
If it fails with GITHUB_FETCH_FAILED after the repository was renamed, waiting won't fix it. Delete the import and add it again with https://github.com/breakthroughsales/plugin.
"Source manifest was not found at any supported path" when importing
Leave Path and Branch, tag, or commit empty. "Repository root" is the label an existing import shows for an empty path, not a value to type.
Sign-in and errors.
Every tool returns missing_or_invalid_license_context
You're not signed in to Breakthrough. Ask "Who am I in Breakthrough?" and sign in when the browser window opens.
421 from /mcp while /health returns 200
Not a sign-in problem: the request is rejected before it reaches authentication. Email us rather than reconnecting.
